The AD142 is designed to provide a simple method of performing waveform capture in vibration analysis applications.  The card has two synchronously clocked 14-bit A-to-D converters and two current sources that are tailored to power piezo electric accelerometers.  Using built in triggering facilities it is possible to capture transients and one-time events.

Technical Features:
Dual 14-bit 294KS/s successive approximation A-to-D  converters clocked synchronously for phase sensitive measurements on two channels.

The sample rates are programmable for continuous sampling as well as allowing conversions under host software control.

Dual 4-channel fault protect input mux, with channel scanning logic, arranged so with 4 channels per ADC.

The high resolution of 305µV in the standard ±2.5V input range (standard Type31 cable) or 610µV in the extended ±5V input range (optional Type36 cable) allows it to be used as a recorder and storage oscilloscope.

Each ADC's channel can be set to a different gain Dual 3.8mA current sources are provided with voltage compliance from -5V to +22V.

Internal DC blocking capacitors can be used for channels A1 and B1 to allow direct connection of 2 piezo electric accelerometers or other current powered transducers.

Current sources can be disabled from software A-to-D data flows into a large 2x 16KSample FIFO on-card.

The FIFO can be run in continuous streaming mode (throughput is PC speed dependent) but can also serve as a capture buffer for triggered acquisitions. This is similar to a digital storage oscilloscope, with level and edge triggering against a digital 8-bit threshold in hardware, and programmable pre or post triggering to allow waveform capture before/after a trigger event.  These features are seldom found in PC Card DAQ solutions, making this card unique in its class.

A digital trigger input is also provided to allow burst acquisition to be triggered by an external event or process 8 general purpose digital I/O lines are available for control and status monitoring, each being programmable as input or output and having TTL compatible input thresholds, and CMOS type output drive capability.

Power is available at the edge connector for signal conditioning, powering sensors etc.

Optional:
High-Level DAQ Driver V.3.0 supports LabVIEW, HP/Agilent VEE, TestPoint, DasyLab, HT-Basic, Visual Basic and Visual C/C++.
The DAQ Driver V.3.0 is compatible with the former INES DAQ Driver 2.7b and costs extra and includes a 90 days system developer support.

Full hardware register data is provided to allow exact tailoring for bespoke applications Drivers for DOS, Win9x, Me, NT4, 2000, XP Automatic O.S. recognition and configuration.

Hot swappable PCMCIA 2.1+ compliant TypeII design.

Power consumption: Typical 290mA at 5V fully active, with support for reduced power sleep mode of typ. 20mA at 5V under host application software control Input mux channels can withstand voltages up to +/-35V with the card powered or not.

Supplied with 1m Type31 cable and Elan's unique Strain Relief Assembly to ruggedize the PC Card to cable connection, product code "SRA1".  Connector latches into PC Card for security. Terminates to DB37 Female with male screw jacks.

Custom cabling available on request to set different gains and / or to offer dual coax to BNC connection or similar for connection to accelerometers.

If you need a Terminal Block or a BNC-BOX please take a look at our PCMCIA Accessories.

*DOS support requires Card and Socket Services e.g. SystemSoft or Award.

FreeVIEW - Data Acquisition Software

FreeVIEW is a Scope Recorder / Chart Recorder / Data Logger / Sampler application with additional analyzing capabilities that can be used with Elan's
AD142, AD132, AD136
DAQ Cards.

FreeVIEW is intended for people who don't want or need to program their own applications and just want to capture and analyze captured data now or later. It is also a great tool for verifying analog input data in comparison to self-written programs. With its multi-channel display, dependencies and relationships of channels to each other become clear. Screen hardcopy is implemented too. This works fine even with monochrome printers, because identification signs, color and line type for each graph can be set.

It works perfectly with Elan's DAQ PCMCIA Cards and all sound cards that have 16 bit resolution.

FreeVIEW supports - as the whole data acquisition card series - the operating systems Microsoft Windows® 95/98, Windows NT®, Windows® 2000 and Windows XP®.

By using this free software, a PC-Card and the unique SRA-1 strain-relief assembly kit, a reliable portable data acquisition system can be assembled using a standard notebook. A ruggedized notebook with ISA bay is not required.

Using the sound card driver a "no cost" solution exists - not only including data capture - but also  providing waveform analysis!

Nothing else is needed for a portable data acquisition system for long time or high speed recording applications.

Please asked for the FreeVIEW-DEMO!

Installation instructions for the FreeVIEW-DEMO
Make sure that the data acquisition driver is already installed. If that is true, save the file in a temporary directory and execute it. The archive becomes decompressed. With "Setup.exe" you can start the installation. Follow the instructions of the Setup program.

DAQ Driver V.3.0 for DAQ/DIO PCMCIA Cards
The DAQ Driver V.3.0 is compatible with the former INES DAQ Driver 2.7b and supports Windows® 95/98/ME, Windows NT®, Windows® 2000 and Windows XP® operating systems. The DAQ Driver V.3.0 supports additionally LabVIEW, HP/Agilent VEE, DasyLab, TestPoint, HT-Basic, Visual Basic and Visual C/C++ too.

The DAQ Driver V.3.0 costs extra and includes a 90 days developer support.

All features of the DAQ Driver are descriped in the free online DAQ Manual.

We will send you the DAQ manual by e-mail on request (1.4 MByte) - The DAQ driver supports Microsoft® Windows® 95/98/ME, Windows NT®, Windows® 2000 and Windows XP® operating systems. With Uninstall feature. This archive contains manuals of the complete data acquisition card series. The Online Manuals are self-extracting archives. During download, an executable file (extension '.exe') is created. After download, run this file. A disk image is created. Run SETUP.EXE and the Online Manual is installed.

NOTE: For all files that have been named with a .exx extension, after download rename the extension back to .exe
